Lion Hill


Lijiang Lion Hill Park Located in the downtown of Lijiang, Lion Hill Park is an important part of the World Heritage Lijiang. The park is named as lion after the main mountain in the park like a sleeping lion. Lion Hill Park is a main attraction of the National scenic areas. And it is the only forest park built on hillside in Lijiang Ancient City (aka Ancient Town of Lijiang).

Lion Hill Park has a total area of 15 hectares; the forest coverage rate reached 90%, with more than 40 strains 800-year-old cypresses trees. The Eternal Floor, which locates in the Lion Hill peak, is the landmark building of Lijiang. The building is 33 meters high, and with 16 main columns (22 meters), which is famous for “the first all-wood structure floor of China."

Towering over the west side of Lijiang's Old Town, Lion Hill's 23 hectares of park land are a pleasant diversion. The obvious high point is the panoramic view from the top of Wàngǔ Lóu.

Lion Hill as an integral part of Lijiang ancient town and the major nation-level scenic spot, the Lion Hill Park is located in the centre of Lijiang city. The hill massif is like a lion, thus given the name Lion Hill. With ancient buildings lying around at the foot of Lion Hill, it is the best place for visitors to enjoy the panoramic view of the Lijiang Ancient Town.

The park covers a total area of about 15 hectare with green trees covered on the hill and birds singing in the wood. There are more than 40 ancient cypress trees of 800 years old. Percentage of land-covered forests is about 90%. There stands an ingeniously designed wooden Wangu Pavilion. It is a highest place to catch a good view of the Old Town and the surrounding view of countryside.
