Located 5 kilometers northeast of Urumqi City, Xinjiang Province, Shuimogou Park is a both beautiful and famous resort with a total area of over 36 square kilometers. It focuses on natural scenic spots as well as cultural scenic spots, which makes it a splendid and ecological place for enjoying.

Overview

Surrounded by five mountains and a river, which are Qingquan Mountain, Shuita Mountain, Wenquan Mountain, Hongqiao Mountain, Xuelian Mountain and Shuimogou River, the park boasts rivers and green forests and flowers. And delicate buildings, pavilions and temples are stretch in the park.

Thousands of people from at home and abroad came to visit the park every year for it’s overwhelmingly charm and beautiful sight.

History

There is a 1 kilometer long canyon with water runs along it. In 1733, the garrison of Qing Dynasty built two water mills here in order to solve the grain processing. So the canyon also called Shuimogou.

Scenic Highlights

Shuimogou Hot Spring

It is a famous hot spring around China with an average temperature of 38-40 degree centigrade all year round, containing natrium, kalium, radon, zinc etc. It is also can be drunk as mineral water. The hot spring is good for those who want to relieve arthritis and recuperation.


Hanwen Mountain

It is a rockery with 360 meters long. Parts of the rockery are decorated by granites with poems written on. There is a beautiful white marble statue standing along the Bowang Pavilion, called Statue of Xiaolan Ji, a great scholar in Qing Dynasty.


What's more, there are bridges, streams, pools, caves, pavilions around the Hanwen Mountain, which forming a scenery full of dignity and vigour.

Qingquan Temple

It is a Buddhist temple located on the hillside of Qingquan Mountain with a total area of over 7,000 square meters. It is the largest holy place of Buddhism in Xinjiang Province as well as the site Buddhist Association of Urumqi. There are statues of Guanyin Bodhisattva, Wenshu Bodhisattva and Puxian Bodhisattva as well as the Eighteen Disciples of Buddha.

There are lots of people come to here to pray for good luck during the Buddhist Fair (it often begins on the lunar New Year’s Day, every eighth day of the second lunar month, the 16th of the third lunar month, the 30th of the seventh lunar month and 29th of the ninth lunar month ). Visitors are welcome to pray for good luck if they like.

Shuimogou Park is a large-scale and integrative tourism service resort with functions of exhibition, leisure, holiday and sightseeing where visitors can have fun. As the park is surrounded by trees and flowers, visitors can visit the beautiful and colorful flowers here.

Visitors also can have a barbecue and skiing here during winter. Taking a stroll along the river or boating on the river is nice choice for visitors to have a rest.
